Medical Outreach
Overview
This is a department of Hour of Liberty charged with supporting the less privileged of the Society in the area of health care and administration. This commission was birthed from the book of Matthew Chapter 25: 35-36 where Jesus likened the Kingdom of God to those who are able to care for the needy as unto caring for Him.
Membership:
Membership of this group is opened to all Church members desirous of serving the Lord in the care of the sick. The membership presently is 39 strong men and women carrying out assignment when occasion demands.
The Group carries out its objective of support by visiting local/public hospitals in dire need of help providing assistance in the area of drug supplies; medical equipment supplies; provision of consumables, beddings and toiletries; hospital patients bill support and more importantly visitation for prayer support and sharing of gifts during festive seasons. So far, HOL has been able to carry out its objective in partnership with 1) Massey Children Hospital Lagos 2) Gbagada General Hospital, Gbagada 3) Harvey Road General Hospital, Yaba 4) Lagos University Teaching Hospital, idi Araba and 5) Modupe Cole memorial home of the handicapped
Drug Supply: This assignment started with Massey Children’s hospital Lagos where there was urgent need by the then Medical Director to provide ad hoc supply of emergency drugs to stem increasing rate of child mortality owing to dearth of necessary drugs needed for saving lives of the patients.
Massey hospital was then and still is non fee-paying hospital but with severe shortage of essential life saving drugs. HOL partnered with the hospital in this emergency area of need and presently has a dedicated ward robe where such essential stock and replenish regularly.
Medical Equipment: HOL has successfully supported Gbagada General hospital; Massey Hospital; Harvey Road General Hospital and Modupe Cole in the provision of equipment like Oxygen Concentrators; Phototherapy Lamps; Electronic suction machines; Pulse oximeters; Oxygen gauges; Blood pressure moulds; Accucheck machines; Patient Monitors etc. and a Generating set at different times and occasions and are still hoping to cover more ground as the Lord enables.
Consumables; Beddings & Toiletries: This, we (HOL) have been able to provide yearly to all the hospitals save for LUTH.
Patients’ Hospital Bills: This essential service is a continuous exercise which HOL carries out from time to time at Gbagada General Hospital without which the hospital will not allow erring patients to be discharged being a fee-paying hospital with limited support from Government. This service hopefully will be extended to the other fee-paying hospitals in the course of time.
Prayers & Gifts : HOL undertakes periodic visits to these hospitals during festive seasons to pray for patients and share gifts to all including the hospital staff. The prayer sessions have proven quite effective with testimonies of God’s faithfulness abounding.
MODUPE COLE: This is a special home for the handicapped established by late Mrs Modupe Cole but presently under the management of Lagos State Government, located at Pako Bus stop, Akoka opposite St Finbars College. HOL is partnering with these special members of our Society in every area of need and have succeeded so far with a supply of a Generating Set to support the constant usage of washing machines during power outages to ensure the cleanliness of these patients who could not help themselves always. We have also supplied them with beddings, toiletries and food items which are in constant demand to meet the continuous need of the patients and the specialist carers who are in short supply.
CARE CLINIC: HOL Hospital Dept also engages in out door ministration often times in conjunction with the Evangelism team to carry out care clinic services at selected local communities where there are predominantly less privilege of the Society. This service entails ministering to them in both the word of God, like a small crusade and also administering medical care by providing Doctors; Nurses and Pharmacists to cater for all with medical needs coupled with administration of drugs in the community.
During such clinic exercises, HOL also provides gifts of both cooked food and dry food as well as clothes, shoes, Bibles and other evangelism books to nourish souls of the community members.
This exercise has so far been carried out in Igbokuta by Jakande area of Lekki; Alaguntan area of Ilaje by Ajah and Ibeju Lekki near Epe.
How It Started

The Ministry started as offshoot of HOL Evangelical Arm called CHARITY Group in which pragmatic approach was adopted towards reaching out and preaching the gospel to people. At that time, the group carried out visits to hospitals, prisons, orphanages and indigent Communities by way of; Small Crusade Outreaches; Care-Clinic Services; Seasonal Sharing of Gifts to Institutions and Communities and occasional Community Medical Intervention eg Cancer Screening Exercise.
But over time, three (3) distinct evangelical groups came out of this Charity Group namely (1) Prison Ministry (2) Hospital Ministry and Charity Ministry with their respective roles well cut out.

Where We Are Now
The Ministry has since snowballed into a well-structured evangelical arm of HOL with strong relationship with most of Government Hospitals and Primary Healthcare Institutions in Lagos State through provision of Medical Equipment; Supporting Indigent patients medical Bill payments and most recently engaging in Monthly Supply of well stocked Baby delivery items for expectant Mothers in trimesters’ 8 to 9 Months of delivery across the entire maternity hospitals in Lagos State,
Further to this, the Ministry still carry out quarterly/biannual Care-Clinic Outreaches at our flagship Outreach Centre in Ilasan and other Communities where we provide comprehensive medical treatment to all involving full registration through triad to general medicine consultations; Optometrists consultation and provision of eye-glasses; Dental care eg Scaling and Polishing, Extraction etc and Pharmacy with provision of different kinds of drugs & medications to the teeming members of public.
Future Vision
The future Vision of the Ministry aptly ties with the Vision of HOL Fellowship which is raising end time soldiers for Christ through evangelism. Hence together with our flagship Outreach Centre “ILASAN” we are desirous of owning a land where we can put up Shelters; Educational Facilities e.g. Schools and Skilled Acquisition Centre and of course Modern Hospital facility that will be easily affordable for the less privileged members of the Society while still carrying out other assignments of visiting needy communities for care clinic services as well as continued support for the traditional hospitals needs and also the support for indigent patients in the area of bill payments as well as provision of baby delivery items as we are led by the Lord.
